Children classes suspended

during Fall Term 2020

September 7, 2020

Dear parents,

The pandemic has deeply affected all of our lives, and has had a significant effect on Toronto Aikikai. One of the difficult decisions the Children Program instructors and I have had to face and struggle with is whether to offer children classes this Fall Term.

While we enjoy having the children at the dojo, we have considered the challenges and risk of infection that the children, the instructors, parents and everyone's families would face if we were to offer these classes at this time. After careful deliberation, we have decided to err on the side of caution and suspend the Children Program classes this Fall Term 2020.

We have been following and will continue to follow government and school discussions about what is needed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 once children return to school and we are also keeping an eye on the virus evolution and case numbers. Based on these observations, we will re-evaluate when the Children Program can be reinstated and in what capacity children can safely return to the dojo.

I will be in touch with you again by the end of the year to update you on this. In the meantime, I want to thank you for your understanding, and hope you and your family will stay safe and healthy.
