Fees

Toronto Aikikai is a membership based dojo. It has 2 membership categories: Adult and Non-Adult, the latter including students, youth and children. A member is considered a student if not working and enrolled on a full time basis in an academic institution, a youth if 19 years old and under and a child if 12 years old and under.

Registration in one of the above categories is required for membership in the dojo, as well as payment of the corresponding monthly fees. The monthly fees that Toronto Aikikai charges for membership and instruction, including HST, are as follows:

Fees are due and payable within the first week of the month. Payment of fees can be made on a monthly basis or several (3, 6 or 12) months in advance. The following approximate discounts with respect to the monthly rates apply when paying in advance:

3 months in advance - approximately 5% discount (about 3 weeks free a year)
6 months in advance - approximately 10% discount (about 1 month free a year)
12 months in advance - approximately 15% discount (about 2 months free a year)

Additional discounts apply as follows:

Each additional family member - 25% extra discount
Taking both Aikido and Iaido - 10% extra discount

Additional Notes

Prospective new members may observe any classes and may try a Beginners Aikido class or a Iaido class without cost or obligation.
Dojo members are entitled and encouraged to attend any and as many classes as they like in their membership category, independently of skill level or rank.
The dojo does not offer long-term contracts. Members may cancel or put their membership on hold at any time.
Upon joining the dojo, new members are required to register for a period of 3 months or longer.
A one time initiation fee of $25 applies to all new members registering for a 3 month period. This fee is waived if registering for 6 or 12 months.
Upon completion of the initial 3 month period, members may choose the 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months payment options.
All membership fees are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
Visitors are always welcome. The daily mat fee for visitors is $15 and covers all Aikido and Iaido classes offered the day of the visit. We also offer a package of 10 day visits at a discount price of $100. There is no expiration date for this package and the visits can be used at any time. Visitor fees do not apply to dojo members.
